Plans for Return to School in September 2021
Following the letter to all parents from the CEO of Leigh Academies Trust this week, this letter will explain the start and end of day routines at Cherry Orchard in September. We appreciate that some of our parents have children in both EYFS and main school and we have allowed time to move from the nursery side of the building to the main playground.

All children from Years 1-6 are to come into school on their designated PE day in their PE kit. We have found that this ensures that PE kits are not left in cloakroom areas where they often end up on the floor and get misplaced. It also means we don’t have any wasted learning time in our PE lessons. Children will be expected to wear the academy PE kit (please see our website for details here). On warm days, you may wish to send your child in their P.E shorts, but a grey or black tracksuit is probably the best option in case of changeable weather.
Children should not wear earrings or watches on P.E days, and anyone with hair longer than chin length should have their hair tied back. Multi-coloured gym wear is not part of the school PE Kit.
Reception children will not start P.E immediately so please await further information from the teachers.
If your child is unwell please call the absence line on 01322 242011 to let us know they will not be in and give a reason. If we do not hear from you, Mrs Williams will call to find out where your child is. Unauthorised absences will again be subject to fines. No holidays will be authorised during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances; If we do not receive a valid reason for absence, this will be marked as unauthorised in line with our attendance policy.
If you and your children would like to keep their learning going over the Summer break, resources to support this can be found at The Oaks Academy website here.
Have a wonderful summer everyone and we will see you in September.
Mrs J Forsythe
